Vella (portrayed by Elizabeth Alexander) was a minor character from the fourth season of Farscape. Appearing in the episode "What Was Lost, Part I - Sacrifice", she was an Interion instructor and archaeologist studying ancient ruins on the planet of Arnessk. Jool had joined her expedition after departing from Moya in order to discover the Arnesskans' secret of peace. Ka D'Argo had also joined Jool on the expedition, but Vella regarded the Luxan coldly, viewing him and his race as intellectually inferior.
Death[]
Vella was murdered off-screen by the amphibious creature called Oo-Nii. Noranti had intended on killing Vella herself, believing that the instructor was seeking out three Darnaz probes buried on the planet in order to sell them to the Peacekeepers as a weapon. In truth, however, Oo-Nii was the one who wanted the probes and he killed Vella using her own Sernax carver, a device that was used for removing decay and detriment from artifacts. The carver had a significantly different effect on living tissue, petrifying flesh and turning it to stone. After hearing Vella scream, Crichton, D'Argo and Chiana found her turned to stone and fused to the wall.
