Colonel Thomas H. Maguire was a minor character in the sci-fi horror film Cube2: Hypercube. He was portrayed by Bruce Gray and was the second character to die in the film.

History[]

Colonel Maguire was a high-ranking member of the United States Military and was involved on some level with the development of the Hypercube as well as the first Cube. When IZON created the Hypercube, Maguire became one of its test subjects. When he awoke inside the structure, the first thing he considered was using the numerical coding system of the first Cube to keep track of his movements and find the exit. However, the Hypercube's rooms were not numerically marked and existed in a state of quantum flux, with temporal anomalies constantly occurring within the complex.

With no mathematical information to work with to figure out his way, Maguire soon gave up hope and he attempted to kill himself by using his belt to hang himself from the rungs on the wall. In the midst of his suicide attempt, however, several other subjects - Kate Filmore, Simon Grady, Jerry Whitehall, Sasha, Max Riesler and Mrs. Paley - entered the room and saved him. Simon attempted to question the Colonel about their location, but Maguire had little information of use and less time with which to tell the others.

Death[]

As the Hypercube subjects bicker, a strange distortion occurs on one of the walls. A strange ghost image of the wall appears and moves towards the group and Kate sees Maguire's discarded suitcase get caught in the "ghost wall" and deteriorate. Maguire, not prepared to prolong his suffering by attempting escape, accepts his fate and handcuffs himself to the rungs behind him. He then swallows the key to the cuffs so that the others can't free him. Reluctantly, Kate and the others flee and leave Maguire to be disintegrated by the ghost wall.
