Sommerfield (portrayed by Natasha Lyonne) is a supporting character in Blade: Trinity. She is a member of the Nightstalkers and a brilliant genetic scientist. While she may be blind, she has not let this prevent her from contributing to the Nightstalkers' cause. She also has a young daughter, Zoe, who lives with her at the Nightstalkers' hideout.
During the film, Sommerfield aids Blade and the Nightstalkers by researching the vampire genome in order to produce a biological weapon. She succeeds in developing Daystar, a virus tailored to attack vampires, but in order to perfect it she requires the blood of Dracula, the patriarch of the vampire race.
Death[]
Whilst Blade and Abigail are out shutting down a vampire blood farm, Drake infiltrates the Nightstalkers' hideout. As the power goes down, Sommerfield tells Zoe to go hide while she tries to find the others. She staggers blindly through the base, almost tripping over the bodies of her friends Dex and Hedges. As she stands in the basketball court trembling in fear, Drake appears behind her and attacks. This assault isn't shown on-screen, but Sommerfield's terrified screams can be heard echoing through the building.
When Blade and Abigail return to the base, they find Sommerfield has been beaten and tortured to death. Abigail breaks down into tears at the sight of her slain friend.
