Robert Greenwood was a minor supporting character from Season 2 of Gotham. A cannibalistic serial killer, he was an inmate at Arkham Asylum before being freed by Theo Galavan and recruited as a member of the psychotic band of rogues known as the Maniax. He was portrayed by Dustin Ybarra.

History[]

Prior to the events of the series, Greenwood had gained notoriety across Gotham City for his many violent crimes. He had murdered and eaten twelve women in a grisly rampage before he was finally arrested and sent to Arkham Asylum.

In the episode "Damned If You Do...", Greenwood along with other inmates Jerome Valeska, Richard Sionis, Aaron Helzinger, Arnold Dobkins and Barbara Kean are freed from Arkham by Tabitha Galavan on the orders of her brother Theo. After being brought before Theo, the lunatics are offered the opportunity to come together as a group to bring Gotham to its knees. Under Galavan's behind-the-scenes guidance, the Maniax would instill mass panic around the city, though this was all part of a much larger plot for Galavan to introduce himself as a hero to the people and eventually take over Gotham.

In the episode "Knock, Knock", the Maniax made themselves known to Gotham by murdering several dock workers, binding them in straitjackets and shoving them off the roof of the Gotham Gazette. Greenwood wanted to be the leader of the Maniax, but had to contend with Jerome. The two played a game of Russian Roulette and both survived, but Jerome proved to be the bolder of the two as he pulled the trigger on the revolver three times while Greenwood only pulled it once.

Death[]

Disguised as uniformed officers, the Maniax attacked the Gotham City Police Department, killing and wounding several cops in a massive shootout. Commissioner Sarah Essen was tied to a chair while Jerome taunted her, with Greenwood recording the whole thing with a camcorder. Jerome stated that they were going to leave a mark on the city which would spread like a virus, to which Greenwood followed up by saying "There's nothing more contagious than laughter." Jerome then suddenly turned around and shot Greenwood for stealing his line.
