Season five carter

Carter (played by Ethan Embry) was a supporting character in The Walking Dead episode "First Time Again". He was an original resident of the Alexandria Safe-Zone prior to the arrival of Rick Grimes and his group of apocalypse survivors. He contributed to the well-being of Alexandria's community as a construction worker, helping to erect the walls around the town so as to keep out the undead.

After a violent incident in which Pete Anderson killed Reg Monroe which led to Rick killing Pete, Carter became worried for Alexandria's safety. He felt that Rick was too dangerous to be allowed to remain in town and tried to convince several others that they needed to kill Rick before he doomed the entire town. No one agreed with him, however, and Rick walked in on his discussion, and while he was tempted to kill Carter, he let him live.

After Rick discovered a quarry flooded with walkers not far from Alexandria, he alerted the community and rallied them to help with a plan to divert the zombie horde away from the safe-zone. In spite of his doubts, Carter agreed to help and was instrumental in establishing the whip walls along the road leading from the quarry. On the day of the herding, he joined Rick's team in trying to divert any zombies that strayed from the road.

Death

Whilst moving through the forest between the checkpoints on the herd route, Carter was blindsided by a stray walker lurking among the trees. The walker bit him on the cheek, causing Carter to scream in pain and terror. Rick arrived and put down the walker, but Carter's fate had been sealed with the first bite and his continued screams were luring more walkers off the road. Rick silenced Carter by stabbing him through the back of the head, ending his suffering and preventing him from reanimating.
